You've had fair warning, I'm letting off some political steam:
I upset some people when I posted back around the election of my distrust of Obama. (And that's putting it nicely.) I was told "oh don't worry...it won't be that bad." It's not that bad; it's worse...and he's only been president for 2 months.
These massive spending bills putting us and our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren so deeply in the hole...and for what? What kind of stimulus? Have you been stimulated? I sure haven't. There's no extra spending money in my wallet and from the looks of things there will be even less and less as we get laden with taxes to pay for it all (if we even have jobs left after he's all finished killing the economy). The logic of it all completely escapes me. And then he comes back after signing these massive bills and says, "I will cut the deficit in half in 4 years"...hello? Here come the taxes. And there goes our economy, completely.
See this excellent article by Mitt Romney. That's like me (a SAHM, yet unemployed) going on a spending spree with my credit cards, buying all kinds of things justifying them in my mind because they can offer some kind of good (ooh, I could get in shape with this top-of-the-line treadmill! Oooh, think of all the great posts I could write for my blog with this brand-new computer--it has so many features that my current computer doesn't!!! And a new camera, I need a super camera for better photos to accompany those posts...and my kids need all these extra highly-acclaimed activities to make them smart...and much, much more "stimulating pork") and then, feeling good about all the stimulating things I just bought, looking at my credit card bill and saying, "Tsk, tsk, tsk, this is shameful. Someone needs to pay for this. And half of it needs to be gone by next Christmas." Meanwhile, I have no income, but hey, look, my neighbor has some money...surely he benefits from me being in better shape & my shiny fabulous blog & my smart kids so he should pay (when actually my neighbor might have a little money but he's got 2 kids in college and is facing a major health problem of his own, among other things...but still, he's got money and I don't...so he should pay and I'll see to it that he does.)
Then I heard this lovely little bit of news yesterday--"The Obama administration is considering a plan to charge the private health insurance of veterans for treatment of service-related ailments that currently are paid for by the Department of Veterans Affairs"
See here for more on that. So isn't that nice...on one hand while he's talking about nationalizing healthcare for all of us, he's going to drop govt coverage of our injured vets.
Then this whole AIG thing. There wouldn't have been any bonuses to get angry about if the government hadn't bailed them out and allowed the contracts to remain intact. Reagan said, "Government is not the solution to our problem; government IS the problem." And it's true. I've read article after article on the financial/banking troubles facing the country, and you know where it all began? With government. There's plenty of blame to go around and I don't hold a bunch of these financial companies like AIG blameless but it all began with politicians doling out regulations and mandating things they had no business mandating. The healthcare mess we have today that they want to "fix" by nationalizing it all...it all started with government. On and on and on.
I'm with Rush. I hope Obama (and his ilk in the legislature) fails--fails dreadfully in his persistent efforts to kill the economy and grow the government into a socialist, collectivist tyrannical state.
A conservative needs to get ahold of Obama's teleprompter.
